The foursome of Roy Kern, David Hyland, Shawn Cunningham and Don Lambert was the winning team at the 5th Annual DFI Educational Trust Pittsburgh Golf Outing on Monday, July 12, 2010. The tournament was played at the exclusive Chartiers Country Club with the purpose of continuing to fully endow the scholarship given each year to the Carnegie-Mellon Department of Civil Engineering.
No-one can be sure whether it was the long drives of Roy Kern, the precision short game of David Hyland, the dead aim putting of Shawn Cunningham or the strategic course management of Don Lambert, but the field was blown away with a six under par winning score. In addition to the companies Platinum sponsorship, the winning prizes were commendably donated back to the Institute to further its fund raising cause.
ECA is a charter member company of the Deep Foundation Institute. As stated in its Mission and Goals, the company is committed to the advancement of the construction industry. The company has varied their support with the DFI in several different roles over the years. Not only have they supported the institute by attending annual and local meetings, they have presented papers at annual meetings and regional educational programs, sat on the panels of roundtable discussions, supported committees, exhibited at national and international symposiums, and acted as major sponsors of the institute programs.
One can only wonder how a company that is this involved in an industry can find the time to hone their golf skills to championship quality.
