New DC Branch in King George, VA Welcomes Customers and Vendors for Open House
Apr 25, 2025
Equipment Corporation of America’s relocated Washington DC branch, now in King George, VA, held its first ever Open House last month, welcoming customers from the area to tour the facility and get a look at a wide range of equipment on display.
On display during the two-day event was the RTG RG 27S and RG 21T, the KLEMM 807-7G, an Olin 5 140CA on tracks, a Pile Master air hammer, and a WORD Rock Drills mast drill giving customers a close-up look at a variety of rigs.
ECA’s training department brought in its BAUER B-Tronics training simulator, which gives operators a chance to try out BAUER controls using the same software that is found in all BG rigs. In addition, the parts department set up tables with a variety of BETEK teeth, consumables and other tooling for demonstrations. Of course no open house is complete without food trucks.
Anja Frazier of Bauer Financial Services joined the ECA team at the event, speaking with customers about a variety of financing options for all equipment types. Representatives from GMS, local CAT dealer Carter Machinery, Obermann MAT, WORD Rock Drills and BETEK were on hand to answer customer questions also.
Dave Schell—DC branch manager and second generation ECA employee—played a pivotal role in the open house as well as the relocation of the branch to King George last year. His father Pete Schell, a cornerstone of ECA's Washington DC branch since the late 1970s, left an indelible mark on the company.
"My dad started with ECA in 1976, brought in by Al, Roy's father,” Dave said. “By the early 80s, they had their first laydown yard in DC, and by the mid-80s, they built the Upper Marlboro branch," Dave recalls.
For Dave, showcasing this new branch is a deeply personal achievement. "My dad has a legacy in this business. To have the opportunity to follow in his footsteps and expand on what he built is special," Dave said.
ECA Vice President of Marketing Jeff Harmston said this was one of the best organized, most well-attended events ECA has ever hosted.
“Everyone pulled together to make this event a tremendous success,” Harmston said. “We received great feedback from customers in attendance, showing there is an appetite for future similar events.”
